From Learning to Transformation: Lessons from Vishen Lakhiani That Changed My Growth Journey

We’ve all grown up believing that learning is the ultimate key to growth. Study hard. Read more books. Attend trainings. Collect certificates. And yes, I did all of that—because I genuinely love learning.

But lately, a question from Vishen Lakhiani struck me hard: “You’ve been learning all your life… but are you truly transforming?”

Ang sakit, pero totoo.

There’s a big difference between learning and transformation—and for the longest time, I didn’t know the line between the two.

Learning is passive. It’s acquiring knowledge, understanding a concept, or memorizing facts.

Transformation, on the other hand, is active. It’s when that knowledge changes how you live.

For example:

Learning is understanding Biology in theory.

Transformation is when you become conscious of how your body works—how you move, what you eat, how you sleep—and you take real, intentional action to live better.

Learning is diving into Psychology.

Transformation is when you apply it daily—managing your emotions, setting boundaries, healing your wounds, and building real connections with others.

It’s not about how much you know. It’s about how much you’ve grown.

This hit me personally. I realized:

My self-growth and transformation must come first.

Before career goals, before plans, before even trying to help others… I had to start within.

And when I did?

Everything changed.

Because when you transform, the world around you transforms, too.

CLOSING THOUGHT:

So here’s a question I now ask myself often—am I just learning? Or am I transforming?
