Why I Schedule Joy (and You Should Too)

There was a time I thought rest was a reward — something I only deserved after being productive. Joy had to be “earned,” and I often told myself:
“I’ll relax after this deadline.”
“I’ll plan a break after I finish everything.”

But here’s what I learned the hard way:
Joy doesn’t happen by accident. You have to schedule it.

Now, I treat joy the same way I treat client meetings — with priority and intention. I plan mini getaways, slow brunches, journaling days, and quiet nights with friends — not after the chaos, but in the middle of it.

Because joy isn’t a distraction from life. It’s what keeps you alive in it.

🌼 How I schedule joy (even with a full calendar):

  • One day a month that’s just for me (no obligations, no errands)
  • Pre-booking local trips or staycations ahead of time
  • Blocking time for things that recharge me: workouts, massages, reading
  • Saying yes to spontaneous joy — even if it means rearranging a little

And here’s the result?
I feel more energized, more creative, and more connected — not just to others, but to myself.

📝 Reflection Prompt:
What brings you joy — and can you give it a spot in your calendar this week?
